We plan to stop Enbridge Line 3 in its tracks, yet while we expect the best we plan for the worst. We are organizing a team of volunteers to monitor pipeline construction should the worst-case scenario happen. We are recruiting volunteers who live near the proposed route to adopt a section of pipeline to monitor and to report on any activity that potentially violates state rules, law or permit conditions. Here are three key things to know:
· All our activity will be within the law. We will monitor from public right of ways or public lands.
· You will receive initial training and have a coach assigned who can answer questions that come up.
· You don’t have to be a technical expert. You only need to monitor report what you see; information will go to technical experts to decide on next steps.
You will be able to ask questions during the webinar.
Enbridge Line 3 still faces hurdles on several fronts. It needs to get a water quality (Section 401) permit from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and will face several challenges in the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
In these uncertain times, volunteering for Watch the Line MN is an opportunity to act. We hope to see you on the webinar April 7!
